AITC Offers IACET Certified Continuing Education Courses

The AITC Director of Technical Services, Jeff Linville, P.E., has courses already developed including Designing with Glulam (2 day course), Connection Detailing in Glulam (4 hour course), and Fire Safety Using Structural Glued Laminated Timber. Jeff can also develop a custom course to meet the needs of your organization.

Designing with Glulam provides the basic material from a college-level course in timber design while focusing on glulam. This is a 2 day course with optional homework for additional credit. (1.6 CEU with additional 0.6 available with homework)

Connection Detailing in Glulam covers detailing principles to avoid problems with dimensional changes and member failure modes at connections due to loading in either parallel to grain or perpendicular to grain directions. The new row and group tear-out provisions of the NDS are included in this half day course. (0.4 CEU)

Fire Safety Using Structural Glued Laminated Timber presents basic principles of "fire-safe" construction, and addresses how glulam timbers fit into fire-safe design. The performance of wood in fire is discussed and building code provisions for using glulam are addressed. Students will learn the requirements of Heavy Timber Construction, and methods for designing members for one-hour fire resistance ratings (0.4 CEU)

AITC can develop a course specific to your needs. We offer these courses to groups of a maximum of 50 per class.

4 hr course: $1500 plus 10% of ticket sales
One-day course: $2000 plus 10% of ticket sales
Two-day course: $3000 plus 10% of ticket sales
